About the Founder

Third Soil is the brainchild of sustainability strategist and researcher Surucchi Khubchandani, who works at the intersections of craft economies, ecological systems, and climate action. With over 15 years of experience, she has led projects for ecosystem enablers, media platforms, and corporates—including the Creative Dignity CraftxClimate initiative, special projects at The Voice of Fashion, Ministry of Textiles and CSR programmes on crafts and heritage at YES BANK.

With a Graduate Certificate in Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Regenerative Economies (2024) from Harvard Extension School and training in Managing Social Initiatives from IIM-Kozhikode, she brings a multidisciplinary foundation—rooted in Journalism (DU) and Art History & Aesthetics (MSU, Baroda).

Also a media professional, Suruchi’s work spans articles, podcasts, and white papers on fashion, design, and sustainability. Her research on regenerative materials and craft-led economies has been presented at Making Futures (Arts University Plymouth, UK), IIM Ahmedabad, besides contributions in sectoral reports such as the Access Development & HSBC ‘State of India’s Handloom Report 2025’.
